After driving around Beverly Hills for an hour, this very lost Icelander finally found himself at The Troubadour to catch the last songs of Damien Jurado as he and his band finished up their set. I was only able to catch a few songs but was glad I saw them, they put on a great show.
After a few tests on the equipment, Low started playing. They put on an amazing show for the wall to wall packed club. I’ve been a fan for years but this was the first time I had seen them play. If a band like Low can put out a Christmas album that can be enjoyed all year round, you know they’re onto something good. Their live set lived up to all my expectations. Their humble music and attitude shined. When a member of the crowed shouted “you guys are stars”, Alan Sparhawk quickly replied “no where just normal people making music!” The night ended with a beer at the bar and some very tasty fries from the grill. This completed a perfect night of chilled, laid-back music, far from being lost in one of the biggest city’s in the world.
