They’ll be up today…promise…
I’m still a zombie in Austin. check back in a few.
The last week in Austin has been more jam packed than any other I can remember.
For most of the Ice Cream Crew this was our first SXSW adventure and I honestly didn’t believe that all the stories I had heard before were true. I don’t know many people that can party til 6 in the morning multiple nights in a row. That seems to be the norm during this music industry conference turned biggest festival in the world. Last I heard there were over 1500 bands in town from all over the world. And a large portion of those bands played multiple shows. With a little skill, patience, and persistence you could see just about any artist you wanted.
We’re still recuperating here in Austin. We’ve got over 1000 pictures to post from tons of parties, showcases, and all the cream in between. I wish I could tell you where it all begins and ends. I know we’ve got some great shots of Flaming Lips, Wolfmother, Jakobinarina, Belle and Sebastian, Magic Numbers, Jose Gonzales, Noisettes, and many many more. We’ve also got lots of pics from our Off the Wookie Ice Cream Social with Islands, Two Gallants, Detachment Kit, Holy F_ck, Mazarin, and lots of pictures with my new mascot….Cookie Monster.
It’s gonna take a while to make sense of everything. I haven’t thought straight all day. By Wednesday morn we’ll have the bulk of our pics up. The Ice Cream Crew had no schedule so, outside of what’s listed above, I’m not even sure what’s coming over. Give us a couple and we’ll make it worth your time.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our trip to Austin such a success. Off the Wookie was huge and all the crew that made that possible deserve credit. Thanks to TuneCore, Rhapsody, and Capitol Mastering for buying all the ice cream. Big thanks to Rob at Cream Vintage for making the Social possible and all who helped there, especially Matt who did a great job with the sound. The list goes on and on from there. In the long version we’ll try to give everyone who help their due credit.
If you’d like to know when we launch the review, join the list for Ice Cream Man updates and we’ll shoot you an email. That’ll also mean I’ll be on my way back to Long Beach. It took 31 hours in two long days to get here. The plan is to rig a makeshift cruise control with a broomstick and take my time getting back. I gotta be nice to good ol’ Bessie, she’s got me this far.
