Within 6 months She Wants Revenge went from selling out the
Troubadour, then the El Rey to opening for Depeche Mode. I can’t imagine how they’re feeling now. They had some future dates up in June for 3 nights at the Wiltern and 2 nights at the Grove in Anaheim. I also think they are going to play the KROQ Weenie Roast and the 91X show in June as well. So luckily enough I managed to get tickets to the Sold out Henry Fonda show with Monsters are Waiting, and Astra Heights.

I got to the show early to reserve my spot upstairs at the Henry Fonda so I could sit down and kick my feet up. Monsters are waiting came up first. This was my fourth time seeing them live and they get
better every time. Annalee was dancing around the stage getting the crowd into it. They played the usual set with “Christine”, and “Ha Ha”. I here Annalee does a great Too Short cover, but I have yet to hear it live. They also will open dates for Stellastarr* and the Editors which would be an awesome show!

Astra Heights originally from Texas now relocated to LA were up next. The band consists of 3 brothers with a rock/southern fried alternative outfit. My initial reaction was a Kings of Leon crossed with ZZ top. Rollicking bass lines and foot stomping was their strong suit. They were okay but I think they were not on the correct bill.

She Wants Revenge was next and the Henry Fonda was now at maximum capacity. The light show from upstairs helped improved the atmosphere but intimacy of the prior shows at the troubadour, and at the El Rey was gone. They had also played consecutive shows prior to the show at the Fonda. Interestingly though, the music had improved in terms of fullness. Tommy the guitar player has added a lot of extra little fills to complete the music. Another treat was the Los Angeles debut of B-side, “Black Liner Run”, which is a great song. I will be going to the Depeche Mode/She Wants Revenge show in Vegas and will let you know how they handle the demanding Depeche Mode fans. You can also check
them out at Coachella. See ya at the next show.
