The 88, Octomutt, and The Coral Sea at the Troubadour

What an amazing night this was. This being the first time seeing The 88, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. After talking to a few of the folks in line I was ready for at least a great how. That’s what the word was anyway. I would not be disappointed. With an interesting mix of music from the openers The Coral Sea and Octomutt the night went off very nicely.

The Coral Sea opened things up without the full band. Word was they couldn’t make it, but Rey wasn’t going to be missing anything. The set went well but for the second to the last song when the mike boom started to sink. Rey kept it going with style and a friend jumped on stage to bring it back up. In all, a great set of acoustic music.

Octomutt took things from there. With a bluesy, jazzing thing goin’ on I was at once taken by this band. With the double bass and the percussion, I was lovin tune after tune from this act. With lyrics and guitar pickin to keep just about anybody happy.

The 88 brought things up rather quickly, as the stage was already set, and launched into an amazing set. The crowd was lovin every minute and singing along much of the time. I had to pause from shooting just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Rock and roll in a suit rarely lets me down and it didn’t on this night either. With a rendition of Crazy Little thing Called Love and a solo acoustic number from Keith, the set was fantastic. Smiles all around. I said my good bye’s and headed out into the night. To another great night at the Troub.

Peace
