I never know what to do with all the pictures that fall in between events. For instance….last week I had to sit through a three hour “Summer Festival Food Vendor Sanitation Seminar.” Those five pics don’t really warrant a review but….I kinda like ’em. I was even able to round up the crew for a group shot.
While I was in Brooklyn last month I slipped away to Philly for a couple days to see what was going on down there. Ate some pierogi’s, drank a bunch of Yuengling, and had a cheesesteak at Geno’s. Laris and Kendra gave me the royal tour and, I have to say, Philly is pretty damn cool. If you’re looking to get out of NYC and want to pay half the rent (really) think about heading south a few hours.
A while back Knife turned me onto Ji Lee’s Bubble Project. Ji places large blank speech bubbles on advertisements all over New York City then returns a while later to snap pics of what people have written inside them. His Speech Bubble book just got published and he had a little get together in the park. I picked up a book then found the stash of stickers in the back which I promptly had to throw up while on the way to the Avett Brothers show.
Right before I left NYC, I got an email from Noah Kalina about doing a photo shoot with Bessie. From the time I got the first email to the time he sent these pics over was probably 6 hours. Kinda cool you can get something done like that within such a short time span. I really dig the top pic, I think I’m gonna add it to the press kit. Thanks Noah.
On the way to Chicago I made a pitstop in Cleveland to pick up a bunch of stickers at Jakprints and hang out with Dameon for a bit. If you ever need any t-shirts, postcards, stickers, or Wookies printed, check them out. Mention “Ice Cream Man” and there should be a discount too.
Once I realized when I was going to get to Chicago I got a hold of my friend Scott to see if I could crash on his couch for the night. He said sure then mentioned he had tickets to the Cubs – St. Louis game that night. Weeeee Dogeeees! I’m a baseball fan and have been to probably a dozen ballparks around the country. I tried to visit Wrigley on my cross country bike trip but after half a day looking for a rental car in Pontiac, Illinois, I gave up. My first trip couldn’t have been in better. It was a night game, we had tickets behind home plate and, most important, the Cubbies won. Any Old Style fans out there?
Ok, that should cover most the pics in here. I’ve gotta get back on this Pitchfork Festival review. Hoping to have it up by tomorrow night which will be lucky.
I think we’re starting a clothing line soon. Are there any designers – sewers – fabric – fashion – clothes-making people out there with some spare time? Email me if so. Super tight deadline but, if it works, we might be able to sell some stuff to help us bring in some money to give away more cream, or at least that’s the plan.
See ya at Lollapalooza?
