It’s gonna take a bit for me to get back to Cali and get the Austin City Limits Festival Review up in full so we snagged some of our favorite pics for a sneak peek/best of giddy up. Been working all day on our secret carnival project and just now trying to get this brief little review up before prepping for one more meeting tomorrow before heading back to the LBC.
The long weekend began with eating breakfast tacos at Mi Madre’s and looking over to find myself on the cover of the Chronicle. That was one hell of a good start and only got better once we loaded up a bunch of Fruitiki bars and pulled into a prime parking spot backstage. Once we were situated we went over to the main Amy’s Ice Cream booth and picked up a bunch of their super-yummy ice cream to give away. We tried not to eat all the treats but it’s tough when you have new product on board because you want to try all the flavors.
I had a system that allowed me to catch about fifteen to twenty minutes of music a day. Friday was Sparklehorse, Saturday – Calexico, and Sunday – New Pornographers. In hindsite there are a bunch of bands I wish I would’ve been able to watch but, thanks to YouTube and BlueRoom, I’ll be able to check them out while working on the full review. We had a great crew on board for this fest and we all switched off to allow everyone to catch their favorite acts. Aaron even got to dance on stage with the Flaming Lips, he’s the guy Santa below with the big
I’ll have a full, caffeinated, review up in a few days with all the details. We wouldn’t have been able to make it down here with out Bessita. 1400 miles across the desert in summertime was just too much for Bessie. Big thanks to Guitar Center, Amy’s Ice Cream, and Fruitiki fruitbars for making it possible for us to give away somewhere around 4000 ice cream and popsicle treats last weekend. It was an amazing time and there’s lots of stories to tell.
We’ll be slinging at Festival Del Mar next weekend. If you’re in Southern California, you should try to make it out.
