On the way to Sasquatch Festival

Ok, we’re a little behind now but not too bad. Especially considering we’ve given away over 2500 ice creams at two festivals in two countries in the last nine days. Most of the pics here are from pre and post Sasquatch Festival. After slinging cream at the Gorge all weekend the crew and Bessita headed west and Bessie and I made it to Missoula, Montana last night. The plan is to lay low for a couple days and try to get over a thousand pictures up from Virgin Festival in Vancouver and Sasquatch. Wish us luck.

While Timothy and I were in Seattle, we picked up a bunch of ice cream then ran by Wexley School for Girls. I’m still not sure exactly what they do there but they were responsible for taking Jefferson Starship on the road for a few dates and a lot of them like to dress up in space suits. And… they all really seemed to like the free ice cream.

As we drove from Seattle to The Gorge for Sasquatch we ran into a bit of Memorial Day weekend traffic. Normally traffic sucks but since we had more ice cream on Bessie than we’d ever had before, we decided to hand out treats to folks in cars while crawling along at a few miles an hour. We stopped in Ellensburg for some grub before getting our campsites setup for the long weekend.

The pics in the park are from Spokane, Washington. After Sasquatch we still had a few hundred ice creams on board and I had no idea what to do with them. I stopped at the rest stop closest to the Gorge but there were a few ladies collecting donations (via free donuts and coffee) for the Student Nurses Association and I didn’t want free ice cream to cut into their take. A couple hours down the road I got off I-90 and started heading east on surface streets through Spokane. I hadn’t had lunch and figured this would be a fun way to find a local burger stand or restaurant. As I rounded a corner and passed back under the freeway I noticed a park on my right with a couple hundred people in it. PERFECT! I smoothly pulled in, got a prime parking spot, then rearranged my living quarters so that I could move around enough to get to the ice cream in the freezer. It didn’t take long for the word to spread and soon a line a few dozen people long had formed. It turns out it was a BBQ for Veterans. What a perfect way to thank some of the people that have made our freedom possible. I loaded up a plateful of BBQ chicken and fired up Bessie and continued east through Idaho on my way to Montana.

Last night I splurged on a much needed motel room and put the Jacuzzi…and bed…and shower…to good use. Now it’s computer time again. Dorking out then back at it again on my way to Lawerence, Kansas for Wakarusa Festival, June 7-10. Then Ice Cream Social at St. Jude Children’s Hospital on June 12 and Bonnaroo June 14-17. NUTS!

Thanks to Chris and Natania for the hospitalitly in Seattle. Thanks also to Todd for the crash pad in Vancouver. And.. much thanks to all the ice cream crew who have helped the last couple weeks, without them, it wouldn’t be possible.
