Bessie had an extra large baby named Newt!
Technically I think it’s a she, but she’s pretty burly… in a good, cute way.
Actually, we’ve had it for a while, but it’s taken a bit to get fixed up and on the road. And, once I got back from England, I had one day to pick it up from Spin Imaging, take it to the local (meaning awesome) Dodge dealer then pack it to drive 1200 miles to Sasquatch Festival.
Now I’m in Omaha and getting ready to head to KC tomorrow then Lawrence, KS for Wakarusa this weekend.
I didn’t snap too many pics of the inside cuz it’s a lil bit dirty, mainly lots of empty boxes from the Ice Cream Social we threw at the Children’s hospital in town a couple days ago. Check out a couple pics and a bit on info from the local newspaper
So some specs from the truck.
It’s a 2004 Sprinter with a 5-cylinder Mercedes diesel engine which gets 21.5mpg so far.
There’s about 20-25% more freezer space than Bessie.
In case we’re really busy, the very back side window slides open and the mid side window pops up when serving.
We have a pretty kickin’ sound system and speakers on the outside for Spontaneous Dance Parties, and what not.
We’re working on doing live video from the road so there’s some fancy stuff going on there.
Oh… the most important part… Newt has a train horn which is always fun to toot while driving down the road.
Ok, gotta split for now, need to work on trying to get some sponsors on board then skipping town tonight to head south towards Kansas City. Prolly crash in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Weeeeee.
Hope to see everyone while on the road this summer!
Here’s her dimensions too… if you’re wondering?
18′ X 6.5′ X 9′ tall.
Is there a ice cream come to tongoxie Kansas.
