The Do Lab did it again! The ever expanding installment of their Visionary Love Fest.Lucent LAmour! This years event required that an entire street be cordoned off in the Warehouse District of downtown Los Angeles to accommodate the 3 stages and the 2000 revelers. It must be difficult to keep outdoing your own events. It almost seems as a one-upsmanship from one Do Lab event to another.

The attention put into the decor is astounding. It has that organic recycled post-apocalyptic feel, that makes you think and feel Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. The Boom Wow Stage was their well-traveled bamboo brown and pink mushroom booth, the Speaker Garden Stage was made up of recycled speakers, and the coup-de-gras was the Lucent Stage elaborately made with lots of wood palettes.

DJs mixed with the live music of Helios Jive and performance art/dance/music of Lucent Dossier made for a full night of entertainment. Lucent Dossiers performance is always one of organized chaos. Not quite knowing what to pay attention to, but you end up watching what you need to see. Between the jumping, crawling, spinning, flying, there is a theme somewhere.although it can sometimes be hard to define. Okso I have no idea what the theme was. But I did leave in awe of the spinning orb drum, which I thought was a feat of creative engineering.

Despite that fact I walked away from Lucent Dossier pleasantly baffled, there was still more going on with the spinning of Z Trip, Adam Freeland, and El Papa Chango till wee hours of the morning. What makes these Burning Man events so much fun, is that you can come as your alter-egowhich then again maybe your real persona. You can be whoever and whatever you want. No rules or stigmasonly community. You are a participant in this great experiment, whether or not you want to be. Everybody has a story or makes one up for the night. Get out of your skin. Its good to shed once in a while.

If you didnt get enough Lucent Dossier, they are doing a residency at The Edison every Wednesday night through the middle of March. If you need another Do Lab fix, well you have to wait till Lightning in a Bottle.hopefully!
