After a joyful President’s Holiday, it can be difficult returning to the reality of responsibility. But upon reaching your Friday destination, let the operatic-folk of Andrew Bird‘s “Fitz & Dizzyspells” deliver you unto your weekend, unperturbed by the toils of the week.
This album, Noble Beast, has a deluxe edition which includes a second, instrumental record titled, Useless Creatures. Andrew Bird reveals, “the title self-mockingly alludes to my uneasiness about the usefulness of instrumental music”.
Andrew Bird graced The Orpheum Theater with his whistling, violin wailing musical talent this week – an evening surely still resonating with the audience. Bird’s set at Outside Lands ranked among my favorite performances of 2008, (only competing against the Radiohead show I camped out for at the Santa Barbara Bowl).
