Iron & Wine at Fingerprints

Words by Ice Cream Man

Photos by David Thornton

Sam Beam from Iron and Wine stopped by Fingerprints Records in Long Beach yesterday for a short set. I was pluggin’ away at my computer and slipped away about fifteen minutes after four to trek the few long blocks to the store. When I arrived and slid in the side door I noticed Sam was rockin’ it solo and playing my favorite song “Upward over the Mountain” This wasn’t Sam’s first time at Fingerprints (I actually got turned on to Iron and Wine from hearing a live version of “Upward over the Mountain” from a Fingerprints instore from five or so years ago).

He mostly took requests from the audience and I can remember him playing “Jezebel” and Dave Thornton (who also took these pics) requested the New Order cover “Love Vigilantes.” Woah… check this… just found a live video of it. damn, less than 24 hours after. Be sure to click HQ. He finished it off with a new song then stuck around to sign some posters. Keep up to date on Fingerprints instores at Indierecordshop.com. Zee Avi is coming on May 19th
