6th Annual Ashland Ice Cream Social

The holidays are great for many things. Relaxing, over indulging, and hanging with loved ones are among my favorites. It’s also a time we realize that there are reviews and photos that have never been posted. Not sure how we missed this Ice Cream Social one but…. better late than never

At the end of the first season of Ice Cream Man, when I was selling ice cream in Ashland, Oregon, I threw a free ice cream social to thank the town for their support. It was a huge success and from that I decided to base our whole business around free ice cream. For the Sixth Annual Ice Cream Social we brought more cream than ever and a couple video crews to capture the awesomeness.

One of my favorite moments all year is when everything is set up and ready to go and I park the ice cream truck a couple blocks away and wait for the time to drive up. There’s nothing quite like rolling up in an ice cream truck and having hundreds of people cheering. In the past we’ve given away around 500 pieces and the crowd didn’t seem that much larger but they managed to almost double our previous totals with over 1000 treats consumed. We left with an empty freezer and big smiles on our faces.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the Ice Cream Social such a success. Shields and Locals Guide have been on board since the beginning. Today’s Dentistry distributes tooth brushes to all the kids and takes care of my dental work. Andrea and Taj were instrumental in putting things together locally as well. Thanks to Jay and Sue Newman for all the pictures. Thanks also to the ice cream crew for their help slinging as well: Knife, Kate, Gaelle, Wayne and Phil. The next day we caught up with Fruit Bats who were passing through town. They played a couple songs for us you can see that as well as footage from the Social at Road Trippin’ with Ice Cream Man.
