Valentine’s Day is for lovers… and Motion City Soundtrack fanatics.

Couples young and old came out in droves despite the special occasion to support Minneapolis natives Motion City Soundtrack, who were making the rounds in support of their fourth record “This Dinosaur Life.” The Was (Not Was) classic “Walk The Dinosaur” started blasting out of the House of Blues speakers as the guys took the stage. From the first note, the crowd went bananas. They sang so loud at times that frontman Justin Pierre simply let the crowd take the melody and he backed them up with harmonies.

Jesse Johnson’s sheer manhandling of his synthesizer led the energized crowd as they fed off the band’s every move. MCS started with “Worker Bee” from their new record, and even the fresh material wasn’t enough to deter diehards from screaming every word. They mixed it up with older tracks like “The Future Freaks Me Out” and “Perfect Teeth” to classics “When You’re Around” and “LG FUAD,” the latter acronym inspired cut serving as the first half of their 2 song encore.

I first heard the music of Motion City Soundtrack when their song “Everything Is Alright” was featured in the Accepted movie trailer. The song gave life to the images in the preview and I was instantly hooked. Since then I have owned every album and yet this was the first time I managed to see their live show. They are on a massive worldwide tour through April of 2010… check them out when they visit your neck of the woods!
