Sometime ago I stumbled across Burning World’s blog and their Pod Fodder mix-tape downloads. I perused one of them, recognized a few tracks but didn’t know most of the music on there, so I downloaded it. After a few listens I got into The Joy Formidable and started looking around for more tunes. The timing was perfect because I was was digging up stuff and they were prepping to release an EP stateside. Not only that…. they’re going to be touring around the North East the next few weeks and they got added to the rad-looking Truck Festival that’s going on in the Catskills this weekend (w/ Mercury Rev, White Rabbits, Here We Go Magic, Neil Halstead, The Sadies, and a bunch more)
“Whirring” is one of the catchier songs on their debut EP, A Ballooon Called Moaning. Actually, most of the tracks are catchy. They remind me of the heyday of 90’s rock and I’ll always be a sucker for that, when it’s done well. Take a listen to the song and try to catch them while they’re on their mini tour with New York’s The Dig.
