Back in the junior college days at LBCC I used to travel around Southern California listening to all kinds of rock and ska bands. One of Long Beach’s most popular bands and the time was The Killingtons. It must have been around the time Sunny Day Real Estate hit the seen and everyone thought The Killingtons were going to be heading down a similar path, to indie….emo…rock stardom. They made some great music and put out a couple CDs but somewhere along the line things unraveled. I was never sure exactly what happened.
After 10 or so years, The Killingtons are back for a couple shows. Why? Why not? Music is fun and if they can sell enough tix to fly out Michél from Chicago then it’s all worth it. Joining them for the Glass House show will be Teen Heroes, another band with strong roots in Long Beach that was on the brink of super stardom.
