As I write this Bonnaroo review I’m sitting on a hill drinking a Yuengling and listening to Dave Matthews Band. Not a bad way to end a long weekend at the premier festival in the US.
So much has happened the last four days I’m not even sure where to begin. Ben & Jerry’s made a special ice cream for the festival called Bonnaroo Buzz and we scooped over a hundred pounds of it along with some Magic Brownies and Half Baked bars. Yum.
As I was loading up on pops and dry ice on Thursday, Wayne and Anais caught up with Local Natives. Unsure of where to play “Airplanes” they just rocked in our RV.
Thanks to the KOA that’s right next to the festival grounds we were able to film by there duck pond. Moondoggies from Seattle came out on Friday and Norah Jones stopped by on Saturday to play a fun song about her dog. I knew she’d come through with something good.
Ohhhh. How could I forget to mention our trip to Memphis? Give us any reason to hit that town and we’ll spend a few days there. We caught up with Surfer Blood before their show at Hi Tone where we filmed The Gories last year. It was nice to be back and Surfer Bloods performance stopped people passing by on the street
Damn…. I almost forgot we stopped in Nashville to sling next to the red carpet for the Country Music Television Awards. I drove down Broadway right before the parade started and was shocked to find thousands of people lining the streets. It was so nice to sling to some good southern folk and I’m so happy everything worked out for us to be there
Back to Bonnaroo…. We thought we had wrapped up shooting but were quickly summons to head over to That Tent to meet up with Thievery Corporation right before their set. Something magical happened but who knows if it’ll ever see the light of day
DMB is jamming intensely right now and I’ve gotta crack another Yuengling then get back to the truck for some cleaning. I wonder where we’ll end up next week….
