Last year during Grammy time Jeremiah and I ended up at the Canadian Consulates house in Los Angeles for a party that was being thrown for Canadian artists who were nominated. It was the first time I heard Dan Mangan as well as Black Dub, Daniel Lanois’ new project with Trixie Whitley (Chris Whitley’s daughter) and Brian Blade (jazz drummer extraordinaire). I started searching around for more info on Black Dub but the collab was pretty new then and there wasn’t much to be found. It’s taken a little bit but their debut is set to come out on 11/2 on JIVE Records and they’re gearing up with some shows around the Northeast and maybe a surprise gig at CMJ. Check out their first Single “I Believe In You” here and you should also check out our review from the Grammy Party because there’s a video of Black Dub performing “Surely”.
