The CMJ Music Marathon, that New York City counterpoint to SXSW, is on its way back next week. The festivities begin on Tuesday the 19th and head into the weekend, ending on Saturday the 23rd.
As always, there are tons of bands that need to be seen, so we want to let you know of a couple you shouldn’t miss.
Friend of Ice Cream Man Rich Aucoin is one of them. Hailing from Halifax, Canada, Rich and his band pump out plenty of Daft Punk-esque jams to get you dancing.
Check him out Tuesday at Ace of Clubs and Wednesday at Arlene’s Grocery as part of the Canadian Blast showcase.

Our second suggestions is Australia’s Angus and Julia Stone. One of the biggest acts coming out of Australia recently, they just played ACL and Bonnaroo and are gaining a following stateside.
A different musical direction from Rich Aucoin, they play melodic, enchanting pop songs.
They’ll be playing Friday at the Bell House and playing with Devotchka on Saturday as part of the Sideshows in Damrosch Park.
Of course there’s a whole slew of great bands playing, so keep your ear out for more.
