Los Amigos Invisibles and Trombone Shorty at the Conga Room

This past week the Grammy’s swept through Los Angeles, which is an awesome time of the year.  You have a plethora of music to choose from on any given night.  I made the venture down to LA Live to the Conga Room to catch a little Los Amigos Invisibles and Trombone Shorty.  You wouldn’t think these two bands would tour together, but they are a natural fit.  The Venezuelan acid funk jazz and the NOLA jazz funk pair very well together.  The predominately Latino crowd really likes to dance so the cross over between these two is seamless.

Los Amigos Invisible has been together since the the mid 1990’s throwing down their (almost) south of the equator funk.  I was little handicapped, for my Spanish is very limited and I had a camera.  Regardless my first live exposure to them was most enjoyable.  The Conga Room, if you haven’t been is a mid-sized club with a nice airy deck overlooking LA Live, but is still small enough to give you that intimate experience.

As far as Trombone Shorty goes, there really isn’t much to say other than he tears it up on his t-bone.  If you haven’t seen him, you should really get out there and catch him while he still plays small clubs.  These guys will be touring together for the next week only.

Geography is not Crash’s strong suit.
