Sometimes here in Ice Cream Land, things just fall into place.

A couple weeks back, we were tossing around ideas on how we could get Beau up for the Launch conference in San Francisco.  After many back and forths with potential sponsors, it all fell through. Unfortunately for me, I had already planned on being in San Francisco for the weekend and hadn’t booked a ticket up, figuring on already being there for Launch.

It didn’t take long to realize that Noise Pop was also going on that week. With the additional benefit of our CES & SXSW sponsor Roku being based in the bay, as well as our Austin party sponsor LiveFyre and SimpleGeo, a company that has been helping us out, it seemed worth it to make a trip up.

So, being the intrepid adventurers we are, we scraped together some money, loaded up the van and set off for the bay. As soon as we arrived we started scrambling around town, hitting up offices and meeting people. That Friday night, we made our first Noise Pop stop. We were requested at the Nick Zinner photography show opening at Public Works, so we finagled the truck in and started slinging. Despite the icy temperatures during the unexpected cold spell (forecasts had it snowing that weekend) things went surprisingly well. So well, in fact, that we didn’t end up making any more stops that night.

Tired from a long day, we met up with friends for drinks and called it a night. The next couple days Cory took charge and brought Beau back to Public Works for their Culture Club workshops and talks. An all day event highlighting the Noise Pop experience, the events proved to be another happening stop. Afterwards, we met up for dinner and a few of us headed out to the Wavves and Best Coast show at the Regency Ballroom. We only caught the last few songs of Wavves frantic set and settled in for a few songs from Best Coast, feeling transported back to the early to mid ’90s when Belly and Throwing Muses ruled the scene.

A whirlwind, last minute event. It was tiring, fun and well worth it. Another success in the Ice Cream Man books.
