We’ve been a bit quiet around here lately so I wanted to get a post up letting folks know what we’re up to and where they can expect to get some free ice cream this summer. I’m in Connecticut right now laying low with Beau getting ready to hit the road next week.
It’s a little late to begin summer tour but I’ll be leaving CT on July 7th or 8th and heading west. My first stop will be Cleveland to sling some cream and hang with our friends at Jakprints. With any luck I hope to head to Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday July 10th to sling at the Yonder Mountain String Band show they’re throwing there.
In a perfect world I’d be able to head north from there to finally check out the Upper Peninsula which I’ve been wanting to see since riding my bike cross country and choosing to head south around Lake Michigan instead of travel north for a few hundred extra miles. Maybe I’ll even pit-stop in Grand Rapids to visit Founders too!
The cream slinging will really get going with Pitchfork Festival which starts on Friday, July 15th…. with GBV, Neko Case and Animal Collective on that day!! It’s always a madhouse there and we’ll blow through over 3000 Ben & Jerry’s treats and Popsicle Airheads pops. We’re crossing our fingers that the Bitchpork after party will be happening again cuz it’s been our favorite party the last two years and we can’t wait to get back.
We’ll be heading to the NYC area post Pitchfork for a week and will be looking for places to sling so hit us up on Twitter if you have any ideas for July 20-27th. Too bad the dates don’t work out for the Vans House Party there.
Newport Folk Festival will be our next stop on July 30th and 31st. You should come join us, it’s one of our favorite festivals. Not only is the lineup solid but the venue is the best – Fort Adams! and Ice Cream Mom and friends will be out.
Lollapalooza will follow then Outside Lands the weeks after. We’re still working on our 8th annual ice cream social in Ashland, stay tuned for dates on that.
Meanwhile, Gooch, Cory and Rachel will be heading out on their own tour in support of Sungevity, a company that leases solar panels to help people go greener with power and save money on electrical bills.
They’ll be travelling the east coast in a Sungevity branded truck giving out free, all natural pops from our Austin friends GoodPop and getting people to sign up for iQuotes to see if they’re able to install solar panels in their homes.
