We kicked off our Summer Jammin’ music festival tour at one of the top 5 in the country this weekend. I’ve given away more than 20,000 creams at the Pitchfork Music Festival to date and the line up of this long time personal favorite never ceases to disappoint.
On top of the free ice cream and treasured music sessions that Dig For Fire are capturing this summer for ‘Summer Jammin’ with Ice Cream Man’, we were extremely excited to introduce our new friends at Spotify… only THE most exciting music service in existence to date. I’ve been listening to a beta version for a while so I’m really happy that I get to share that with you guys. With a library of over 15 million songs, it does not get much better than that. Spotify finally launched last Thursday just in time to hop a ride on our Summer Jammin’ tour across the US. We got amped for Pitchfork by making Spotify playlists (New & Old Loves From Pitchfork) of the music that we were psyched about seeing on the festival bill. Backstage, we gave away FREE invites to Spotify along with some 4,000 Ben & Jerry’s and Popsicle Airheads It was hot as hell in Chicago this weekend so I think people were especially pleased to see us this year. Free ice cream and free tunes #summerofFREE… what could be better?!?
Check out Twin Sister’s knock-out cut of “Daniel” for Summer Jammin’ with Ice Cream Man’ On Pitchfork TV today. It was cool to see them use so many of the new instruments from our music chest and improvise a beat using an iPad app, that thing was mesmerizing. Catch Superchunk’s Mac and Jim playing “Learned to Surf” from Majesty Shredding on top of Bottom Lounge in Chicago on Pitchfork TV on Thursday this week!
We’re driving east from Chicago now and will be around New York City this weekend, so hit us up on twitter or our FB page if you think we should be slingin cream and giving away Spotify invites at a free music show near you! See you in NYC…
