We knew we were in for a great weekend at Lollapalooza when we landed the best parking spot we’ve ever had. Normally we’re in direct sunlight the whole time and it’s blazing all day but this year we snaked Beau into the shaded northside artist area just a few feet from the stage. This allowed us to sneak out frequently to check out Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Deadmau5, The Joy Formidable and more. There were 130 bands playing and over 90,000 people in attendance making Lollapalooza the biggest rock festival in the country. You’d think it would be over-crowded but they did such a great job of having multiple big artists on at the same time that there was almost always room to see a band without being stuck in the very, very back. A good example was Friday night when Coldplay, MUSE, Girl Talk and Ratatat were all playing at the same time.
With so many bands playing it was tough to figure out who to ask to play for Spotify Goes Summer Jammin’ with Ice Cream Man but once Lykke Li confirmed we knew we were set. Things fell into place with us finding a spot to film too. Check out “I Follow Rivers” over at Pitchfork TV. Coming up on Thursday we’ll have some more awesomeness including a song from DOM. We’ll also get some pics up from Jared in the coming days, he shot a ton of bands.
