The sold-out Echo was full of happy Duke Spirit fans
and some friends of fans who quickly followed step.
The Duke Spirit will always deliver and Wednesday
night was not an exception. Having recorded their new
release Neptune at Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree,
CA, you can’t help but think this British quintet has
a fondness for things Californian, following in the
historical footsteps of Gram Nash and many other
greats of the 60s and 70s. Lead singer Liela Moss is
always a force of nature. The timbre of her voice
hearkens PJ Harveys which is all but a good thing.
She has an artistic on-stage grace; a show woman
carefully and authentically interpreting each line.
She also has Mick Jagger-like energy, captivating her
audiences and having them wonder how the show went by
so fast. Let’s hope the next time they visit LA will
go by just as quickly. Viva la Duke Spirit!
