Broken Social Scene – Feist at the Fonda

Canadian-born, Leslie Feist opened up for Broken Social Scene. Going to the show I didnt know very much about her or her music. But I was pleasantly surprised. She has one of the most beautiful voices I have heard in a very long time. I cant really think of anyone who sounds like her, I guess soft and smoky would best describe her voice. However it was the small chat in between songs that really got me into her set. She’s the first person I have seen talk about their home town or origins of songs as she did in between song.

Before the show my friend tried to explain how Broken Social Scene operates, as far as members go, and it was extremely confusing. Wikipedia cleared up some things but not all,Broken Social Scene took the stage soon after Leslie Feist. They came out the gate with a bang as they played a personal favorite of mine, Cause = Time, early in the set. I felt that song was going to be the highlight of their set, but each song they played was better than the previous. Some of the best songs in the set to me were: “KC Accidental”, “Stars And Sons”, and “Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl”. And just like Leslie Feist, Broken Social Scene was very friendly with the audience. This is one of the best shows I have seen in some time, I highly recommend going to see them If you get the chance.
