Great news from an LA Times story stating that Six Flags Magic Mountain will be getting a new wooden roller coaster soon. Its about time! Theyve been building all kinds of steel ones over the last decade and havent even attempted to get a world class woodies (sorry folks.. Colossus isnt as good as you remember from being twelve). Psyclone, which was just a copy of the original Cyclone (yet nowhere close as good) was torn down a couple years ago and thats where theyre building Terminator.
This should be an impressive coaster. Great Coasters International has built some of the best coasters in the world and I cant imagine this one, named Terminator and at the biggest park on the west coast, will too much of a family coaster. GCIs Thunderhead Coaster at Dollywood was Amusement Todays Golden Ticket winner for best wooden coaster in the world for a year. Ive ridden Thunderhead and it is a world class coaster (check out Heavy and I on Thunderhead). Ive also ridden Wildcat at Hershey Park and can attest to that living up to the Great Coaster namesake.
So what will it look like? NO IDEA. I was looking around for pic, layout, facts, newsanything but only got the tip that the coaster is on the way. Apparently itll be a ten-million dollar coaster and thats a good chunk-o-change for a woodie, especially since the land is already there and cleared. Hopefully it doesnt sink like its long lost predecessor, Shockwave.
