It’s been raining in Southern California lately, something that happens rarely. So sometimes it’s nice to listen to some sunny pop music to lighten the place up a bit. Beulah are one of the many Elephant 6 crew led by the likes of Apples in Stereo and Neutral Milk Hotel (and more recently, of Montreal).
The album The Coast Is Never Clear from 2001 is a sort of concept album making you feel like you’re driving down Pacific Coast Highway on a Sunday afternoon, even though many of the lyrics have a dark tinge to them. “Cruel Minor Change” is near the end of the album and is maybe the fastest song on the album, abandoning any dreaminess in favor of British Invasion soundscapes.
