Since their arrival, The Black Keys have been pivotal in revitalizing the forgotten relationship between rock and blues. After listening to the tribute album “Chulahoma: The Songs of Junior Kimbrough”, Juniors widow called The Keys and thanked them for capturing his style better than anyone else; this recording is the final track on that album.
Previously playing Coachella in the evening, I would beg, plead, and cry to experience these guys in the scorching Indio sun; nothing would soothe my soul more than intoxication by heat and sonic Southern comfort. Though any time of day, any time of year, The Black Keys will do the trick.
Our song of the day comes from The Black Keys latest album, “Attack & Release”, which is watermarked with DJ Danger Mouse‘s seal of prodigious style and execution. The banjo intro is irresistible and the eerie piano paired with the languorous tone is hypnotic. …Black Keys, deliver me unto my weekend.
