The Australian band Empire of the Sun just released their album on Astralwerks Records on April 21st, but theyre already hitting the global charts and hit Platinum at home. The project is the product of the creative duet Luke Steele from The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of Pnau. After Steele worked with Pnau on the song With You Forever from the bands 2007 self-titled release, the two decided to collaborate, drawing on the influence of the French rock-synth bands Phoenix and Daft Punk.

Their track Walking on a Dream was the iTunes single the week starting Tuesday April 21 and was also featured in the CWs show 90210 on Tuesday, April 27th. The video for the singlehas reached 3.8 million views on Youtube and their more recent video for We Are the People is catching up.

Walking on a Dream is an update of nostalgia. This electronic rock with a simplistic synth melody, drum machine beats, and filtered indie-electronic vocals somehow feels like your favorite brat pack movie, revamped. Its catchy with a great beat and the rest of the album feeds off this same energy. Innovative rock with a vintage feel, Steele and Littlemore have created an album that is sure to gain as much popularity in the States as it already has abroad.
