This coming weekend is know in Iceland as “Versunarmannahelgin” or labourday weekend and sees most Icelanders hit the road and make their way to festivals and gatherings in the country side. For those who choose to stay in Reykjavik and enjoy paved roads and their own beds rather then rainy soaked tents,cold food and warm beer, the Innipúkinn music festival is surely the place to be.
This is the eigth Innipúkinn festival in down-town Reykjavik during the labourday weekend. The festival has touched ground in many areas since it was first held back in 2002 – but this is the first time it is held at more than one venue; Sódóma and Batterý. Every year there is a huge buzz about Innipúkinn, and for a good reason, many of the freshest and most respected artists of Iceland have performed on stage at Innipúkinn.
Past festivals have seen international acts like Cat Power, Blonde Redhead,Raveonnettes take the stage but this year the festival is focusing on local acts and will see more the 30 of Icelands most exiting bands take the stage during the three day festival.
