Crystal Antlers are hometown boys here in Long Beach. Currently they’re on a farm in Mexico working on their second album though. Somewhere I recently saw they they had a 7″ single coming out and that you could download the tracks for free. OK… I’m down for that. I was looking forward to hearing the new tunes, mainly to just catch up with them. After half a dozen listens today… I realize these aren’t just tracks from your friends band. These are realllly good songs that people need to hear. In the past I felt like they were mostly a live band that threw everything against the wall and melted minds. Now, there seems to be a bit more structure going on and some catchy hooks buried in the swirling organ and guitar-heavy psych-ness.
