I’m not sure how I got turned onto Detachment Kit five years ago, it was probably Jeremiah. I instantly dug their tunes and spun Of This Blood over and over again.  Things eventually worked out to where they played our first, and only, party during SXSW.  I think Ian played while lying down in a sleeping bag?!?!

I’ve kept tabs on what the guys were up to and was excited to see that Ian and Charlie formed a new band, BRONZE.  After rocking their myspace tracks for a bit they collected the songs they had to put out a free EP available at www.bronze.bandcamp.com.  If you’re a fan of DK, you should you check them out.  If not, you should check out both bands.  Keep an eye open for shows around NYC too.

Today’s song of the day is “Sunny Day.” Any of the songs off their EP would have worked but I like the idea of wishing everyone a “Sunny Day.”  Also, it’s a bit different than DK stuff.  The kicker is the last half of the song, the “don’t get me going” get’s stuck in my head and I sing it while biking around Long Beach.  Maybe I should have picked something more upbeat to kick off Thursday… like “Sara Lisa.”

Ooooh, look what i just found.  A live DK show on lala. Gonna rock that after another spin of the BRONZE EP.
