I met Michael Michael Motorcycle at the very first festival we gave away ice cream at, All Tomorrow’s Parties in Long Beach. I had seen his work before and I mentioned he should do a poster for us sometime. It took 6 years but we finally pulled it off. Who ever woulda thought that you could ask for a poster with bunnies, rainbows and ice cream and actually get it? Well, now you too can own one of the signed and numbered limited-edition posters. We only made 250 of them and only a handful will be on sale in Beau and they’ll go fast- so head on over to our IndieMerch store and pick one up along with some new wallets we have and you can also snag our 2008 tour poster. If you love both posters, you can save $5 when you buy both posters.
Quick Bio on Michael Michael Motorcycle:
Michael Michael Motorcycle is a painter, designer, illustrator and screen printer of art and rock posters. The subject matter of Michael’s work, while inclusive of romance and fantasy, centers on the relationship between the human environment and the wilderness that our existence constantly alters and appropriates.
His work examines the destruction and grief that the post-modern life produces on our environment. But it also describes the joy and hope that our civilization sustains despite our consumption.
Michael spent most of his 20’s working as a nightclub/concert promoter, which led to making rock posters for LA based concert promotion company Goldenvoice Presents. After learning how to print from accomplished rock poster printer John Miner, Michael set up a studio in his home where he designs and prints his own work. The production of each poster takes approximately six to eight weeks from inception, starting with his hand drawn image. Screen-printing includes layering several single colors to construct an image. The craft of his making each color separation is unique and labor intensive, as is the hand printing that he does himself.
Michael’s clients have included: All Tomorrow’s Parties Presents, the Hollywood Bowl, The Standard Hotels group, Dunny Figures, Live Nation, and many large touring bands. He also creates paintings for private buyers. He has exhibited throughout the US and Europe. His work has been published in many books and magazines including The Art Of Modern Rock and Juxtapoz Magazine.
