Heres a strange one
Im actually writing this review while parked in front of the Disney Childrens Hospital in Orlando. I was supposed to be inside giving away ice cream but Ive been sick for a week and the last thing I wanna do is pass it along. So, theres five or six ladies who work in the Child Care unit who came down with wagons and coolers and loaded up on cream to give to all the patients, families, and staff inside.
James has been the main force behind setting up all the kids hospital stops around the country this year. Generally I just look at my schedule and see when I have free time in a city then ask him to set up an Ice Cream Social. He deals with all the logistics and finding the right contact folks then I just show up at a certain time and do what Im best at giving away ice cream. That is normally, when Im not sick and having a picnic on top of my back freezer, or typing reviews.
Im in Orlando right now for the International Association of Ice Cream Vendors (IAICV) Convention which is happening just south of Disney World. I stopped by for a few hours yesterday but couldnt last too long and was back, in bed, by 5:30. I snapped some pics and Ill get some more tomorrow so I can show you what its all about. Its quite small but I still have yet to make it through the exhibitor section in one day. Maybe its all the free ice cream that slows me down.
Thanks to James for setting up the social, Blue Bunny for donating all the ice cream and Megan at the hospital for making it all work. I felt a lil ashamed though cuz weve done over a dozen hospital stops and Ive never come close to giving away as much ice cream as the helpers here. Maybe I should refine my approach? Not talk so much? Hmmm maybe if I just cloned myself and sent four of me out there with wagons and coolers?
