Coachella is Southern California’s flagship music festival. Beginning in 1999, it’s also become one of the “old guard” of modern music festivals. Mainly an indie rock geared festival, Coachella has also featured many electronic, country, hip hop and other acts. Festival headliners have ranged from Nine Inch Nails to Jay-Z to Paul McCartney. Despite being located in the hot, hot desert, hours away from any major city, it still manages to pull in about 75,000 people a day.
The first time Ice Cream Man attended the fest, in an “official” capacity, was 2005. After ATP in Long Beach, this became the second major festival for Ice Cream Man. We managed to hit it a couple more times, but due to logistical problems, we could never gain footing and had to stop slinging there after 2007. Being based out of Southern California, it’s still the one fest we get asked about the most despite not appearing there in over three years. We have managed to stop by Anthem Magazine’s pool parties near there a few times and actually enjoy those more than the fest. 90 degree plus weather just begs for a pool party.
