Ever since we started Ice Cream Man, we’ve wanted a top notch site where we could showcase all the fun of giving away ice cream. Once we started slinging at music festivals we realized we might as well take photos of all the bands while we where there. Free ice cream and rock and roll go surprisingly well together. Why not document both and set out to become the largest concert and festival review site online. Then we could put up little ice cream snippets from behind the scenes and from ice cream socials as we travel the world on our way to gifting half a million free treats to everyone.
The new site adventure started a few years back when we did the No Love Party at West Coast Choppers. Brian was working on some sites for West Coast Choppers and we met through Khobe, who was helping arrange the party. A year or so later Brian shot me an email asking if I could make it by Khobe’s birthday party with some cream….. of course.
At the time we had a pretty complex design laid out (so… I thought) but the company we were working with balked when they realized the complexity of what we were really trying to do. This site is created to hold over a million pictures that photographers will be able to easily upload and manage that can be published either by our crew of Pro’s or Inidividual Fans. On the way is a community section of the site where people will be able to request Ice Cream Socials as well as help put them together. The list goes on for a while, it’s been years in the works.
We’ve tried to get as much content in here as possible but we have over 25,000 images from the old site and it’s going to take a while to get all that content loaded. Give us a few weeks and hopefully we’ll have most of the reviews over and we’ll take care of some of the other tweaks too. If you have any suggestions, please send them over.
We’re gearing up for 2008 and with the help of Blue Bunny Ice Cream, Levi’s, and Jakprints, we’re hoping to gift at least 100,000 treats this year.
Thanks to everyone who has helped get this together. First off, our fearless leader, Brian Kupetz who has headed things for almost a year. He had a friend, Amber Sellers put him in touch with Crew 12 at Hyper Island who helped with the initial design for the site. Heath Taskis got on board to help complete the Art Direction and Design after our time with the Hyper Island Crew had expired. Jesper Magnusson was Brian’s right hand guy who was responsible for HTML development and a bunch of other help. Gooch, James, and Knife have all helped to populate this site with all it’s content and thanks to the rest of the crew for the input and feedback which has led to what you’re looking at now.
We’re very happy to have finally launched a new site that we’re exceptionally proud of. Keep checking back to see what new features we’ll be rolling out and to catch us at an ice cream social in your hometown.
